Alluring designs for feminine curves

IT WAS truly enchanting when Nicleesher Fashion House showcased their full range of wedding gowns and evening wear at its fashion show during the 8th KL wedding expo 2009 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre.

Warm shades and flattering cuts were the order of the day, as the lovely models sashayed down the catwalk in the latest designs.

The fashion show, themed “Enchantment”, featured long flowing, avant-garde gowns that were classy with feminine curves.

Even the traditional cheongsam and qipaos were given a unique contemporary twist with sexy halter necks and turtle neck collars.

For wedding gowns, which were mostly in white or cream colours, long trains were added that would have delighted any bride!

Many of the dresses came in tresses and layers with Nicleesher’s signature beading and embroidery that lent a touch of elegance to the gown.

Nicleesher co-founder Nicky Lee said the theme was conceptualised to echo the sweet and romantic memories shared by couples on their big day.

“Our signature dresses are the handpainted ones, where we paint the motifs by hand so no one piece is the same.

“Besides the brides’ gowns, we also do handpainted pieces on the bridesmaid dresses to complement the couples’ attire,” said Lee, adding that their prices are affordable.

The materials used include chiffon, gorgeous satin silk and also luxurious French lace.

She added that despite the modern take on the cheongsam, the essence of the Chinese culture was still retained.

“We wanted to add something different to a normal cheongsam attire.”

Indeed it was different, as some of the cheongsams came in a combination of two types of materials mixed and matched with colourful patches sewn into one, or batik being incorporated into another one.

Also featured were beach dresses, whereby the front of the dress was short and the back long, for brides who wished to have their wedding ceremony by the beach!
